DIETETICS AND NUTRITION

Dieticians are university qualified allied health professionals that are equipped with the knowledge, skills and competencies to design, deliver and evaluate safe nutrition practices for both healthy and unhealthy populations.

Dietetics is the promotion of health, prevention and treatment of illness by optimising the nutrition of populations, communities and individuals. Dieticians utilise scientific principles and knowledge to surrounding influences affecting food intake and eating behaviour, taking study of substantial theory and supervised and assessed professional practice in clinical nutrition, medical nutrition therapy and food service management.


Dieticians are covered by most private health funds in both individual or group consultations and Medicare’s Chronic Disease Management plan (CDM). They are also recognised providers for services under the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) and National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
